The Central Housing Registry - Windsor Essex County (CHR) maintains a centralized waiting list for most social housing providers in Windsor and Essex County.

WHO CAN APPLY?

Individuals or households seeking subsidized housing can apply. Eligibility will be determined by the Central Housing Registry – Windsor Essex County.

This is a free service.

WHO ARE WE?

Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation (CHC) continues to provide the centralized wait list function, on behalf of the Service Manager, through the Central Housing Registry – Windsor Essex County.

HOW DO I APPLY?

An application form can be obtained from the CHR office or the office of any participating housing provider.

You can also download and print the application form.

If you need to change your location preferences after applying, you will need to submit a new Location Preference Sheet .

Read the instructions carefully and make sure the Declaration and Consent and Release on the application has been signed by all non-dependant members of your household who are 16 years or older.

Submit your application and supporting documents to the CHR offices by mail or in person.

NEW rules of practice for reviewing certain decisions

The Service Manager Internal Review Committee for all housing providers EXCEPT Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation (CHC) and for CHRWEC applicants requesting a review of an application decision.

Households are encouraged to request a reconsideration of the original decision by the organization that made the decision before requesting a review. WHAT?

CHR determines eligibility for rent-geared-to-income (RGI) housing.

Your application will not be considered for eligibility if the application form is incomplete or if documents are missing.

CHR does not make offers of accommodation or provide emergency housing but can provide information about transitional housing or shelters in the area.

CHRWEC Offices will be closed every weekend and holidays.
